TULSA, OK -- T.J. Hooker, Denny Crane and Captain James T. Kirk crowded into Tulsa's UMAC Center Friday night.

William Shatner is in town for Saturday's "Trek Expo." He claims he doesn't do appearances at conventions anymore, but says he was drawn to Tulsa for the delicious barbecue.

It's the 21st anniversary for the regional Trek Expo. Special guests, in addition to Shatner, include TV's Batman Adam West, Sally Kellerman, Keir Dullea, Dean Stockwell and other actors from Star Trek and sci fi fame.

Shatner, 79, is taking his career in a new direction, starring in his first sitcom. "Bleep My Dad Says" will air on Channel 6 this fall.

"Yeah, it's racy," Shatner said. "So, 8:30 Thursday nights, it'll have to, even the title is racy, so it's a lot of adds and exclamation marks. So we say 'bleep,' but we know what we mean."
