TULSA, OK -- The City of Tulsa and Tulsa County will go into mediation this week over unpaid utility bills for the Tulsa County Fairgrounds.
The city provides utility service to the fairgrounds, but since the city annexed the property, the county has refused to pay storm water and trash service fees.
The two sides couldn't agree on how the annexation affected utilities, so a retired judge will help negotiate a deal between the two governments.
"We're both very much looking forward to resolving this issue, and I certainly believe that just after a day of mediation we're going to be able to come to a resolution and put this issue behind us," said John Smaligo, Tulsa County Commissioner.
The outstanding bill is more than $220,000 and covers service for the last year and a half.
