TULSA, OK -- Tulsa basketball coach Doug Wojcik has agreed to a contract extension. The new deal adds two years from his previous contract and runs through the 2014-15 season.
"We feel very much a part of the community, both from the campus and community end," Wojcik said through a university release. "It brings stability to my family, and our basketball program."
Wojcik has an 81-53 record since taking over as head coach in 2005. He's the only coach in school history to have three-consecutive 20-win seasons.
"Doug has done a tremendous job with our basketball program," said TU Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham, through a university release.
"To hear former and current players talk about how important Coach Wojcik has been in shaping their future is a tribute to his leadership and commitment to our student-athletes."
Tulsa has been in the Conference USA Championship game the past two seasons, losing to Memphis both times. The Golden Hurricane won the inaugural CBI Invitational in 2008 and received an NIT berth under Wojcik last season.
"We have our most experienced team returning, we have some depth and potentially we have a favorable schedule that gives us some national exposure," Wojcik said. "Then, with the additions of D.J. Magley and Scottie Haralson and our returning underclassmen will lead to continued success and stability in the future."
