TULSA, OK -- The head-count is about to start in Tulsa. On Tuesday, Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor joined the U.S. Census Bureau to announce the official beginning of the 2010 Census in Tulsa.
The local census office will hire up to 1,000 workers to count and gather information about residents throughout northeastern Oklahoma. They're still hiring for many of those positions.
Census information is used to get funding for things like highway projects, school lunch programs, and Medicare.
