Ronnell Lewis feels the weight and the warmth. The repetitions are like a ticking clock - each making him more prepared - one step closer to the people of Dewar sending off its biggest star.

"The whole community has supported me through a lot of things," Lewis said. "They've been there for me since day one. I can't forget where I came from. That's the biggest thing I'm going to miss."

The small-town standout graduated high school early and is getting a jumpstart on his education and football. In a few days, he'll make the move to OU a semester earlier than some other recruits.

"I'm looking forward to it - I'm going to miss home," Lewis said. "I want to work hard, hopefully get some playing time and maybe start."

College will be a different landscape - a different layout for Lewis. As a boy, he dreamed of being a bull rider. He told us last summer, he bucked the bulls for football and settled in to the saddle of a horse to help pass the time.

"I'm going to want to come back and ride some horses when I can," Lewis said. "But I'll be staying away from those dangerous bulls."

There's no trepidation for this talented teenager. Lewis was living in the moment until he recently returned from a high school all-star game in Florida. That's when it sank in the next phase what about to begin.

"Down there in Orlando I wasn't really thinking about it," Lewis said. "Then when I got back home I realized, ‘man I've got a week then it's the real deal up there.' It's going to be crazy, it's going to be wild, but I'm excited about it."
