TULSA, OK -- Fire ripped through a North Tulsa church at 1023 North Utica on Saturday. Firefighters arrived to find thick, heavy smoke pouring from the sanctuary windows of "City of Refuge Ministries".

It took nine fire engines and four ladder trucks to get the fire under control. Still, the damage could be devastating for the community.

"This church is instrumental in the neighborhood.  They do a lot of substance abuse, a lot of neighborhood feeding programs for not only for families and the homeless. So, it's gonna be a huge impact to this neighborhood with the damage we have here tonight," said TFD Captain Michael Baker.

Investigators are still searching for the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the pastor is asking other area churches for help so the ministry can continue its mission in the community.
