TAHLEQUAH, OK -- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a homicide near Tahlequah. An OSBI spokeswoman says an unidentified man picked up two hitch-hikers late Thursday night. Those hitchhikers then reportedly tried to rob the man.
Investigators say the man pulled out a gun and shot and killed one of the hitchhikers, identified as Jayme Brewer. The other hitchhiker, identified as Bogere Ssettimba, ran off, but was later arrested.
Ssettimba was arrested on a complaint of robbery. He was also arrested on a first degree murder complaint because Brewer's death happened while a felony was being committed.
As for the driver who fired the weapon, his name is being withheld but The News On 6 has been told he was arrested on a complaint of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
