OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Two escaped inmates were arrested Friday morning after crashing a stolen vehicle into a brick wall, police said.

Edward Thompson, 40, and Anthony Varela, 36, escaped Friday morning from the Oklahoma City Community Correctional Center near Interstate 44 and the Broadway Extension.

Police said they made their way to southwest Oklahoma City where they allegedly stole a woman's car.

Shortly after that, officers tried to stop the car, but the suspects accelerated and the chase was on.

The chase lasted just two minutes before the suspects crashed into a telephone pole and the car ended up in a brick wall, police said.

Oklahoma City Police said Thompson and Varela were still wearing prison uniforms with "inmate" written on them.

Both were taken back into custody and checked out at an Oklahoma City hospital.
