TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The attorney for recently fired Tulsa Expo Square President and CEO Rick Bjorklund is threatening to sue the fair board that dismissed him.
Attorney Gary Richardson says he will file a lawsuit unless the board can justify why Bjorklund's contract was canceled.
Bjorklund was fired July 1st after it was discovered that a 2006 rent check from one of the fairgrounds' largest tenants had gone uncashed for a year and that the park had not paid its 2007 rent.
The board voted 4-0 to terminate Bjorklund, but it has yet to explain how the irregularities occurred and who ordered the Big Splash account to be handled in such a manner.
Bjorklund claims he had been instructed by 2007 fair board Chairman Randi Miller to get Big Splash's financial troubles "off the radar."
Miller denies issuing such an order.
