A proposed change in the operation of Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum moved another step forward on Tuesday. The Gilcrease Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve a plan putting the University of Tulsa in charge of all museum operations. TU Trustees will vote Wednesday.
The university would only be in charge of the museum, the City of Tulsa would still own the Gilcrease collection.
If all parties approve, the change is scheduled to happen on July 1, 2008.
The Gilcrease Museum is located at 1400 Gilcrease Museum Road. The museum houses the world's largest collection of art and artifacts of the American West, as well as a large Native American collection of art and artifacts. Historical manuscripts, documents and maps can also be found at the Gilcrease Museum.
