The aftermath of this year's ice storm continues. A 70-year-old man is dead after a tree limb struck him. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon was on the scene. She reports the limb apparently fell on the man while he was trimming a tree.
Many people are still cleaning up from the ice storm. It left behind a massive mess with downed trees and fallen limbs in yards and streets across Green Country. Creek County Deputies think one man is dead because of it.
Investigators say the 70-year-old man was trimming a tree in his yard in the 6300 block of South 44th West Avenue when a limb fell on top of him. They found the man's body at the base of the tree around 5 o'clock Wednesday evening, but they have no idea how long he'd been there.
"From preliminary investigation nothing seems to be suspicious. It appears he was trimming a tree and a tree limb fell on the victim," said Creek County Deputy Tim Thomas.
Deputies say this is an unfortunate example of how dangerous this type of yard work can be for homeowners.
