Two Broken Arrow toddlers are taken to the hospital Monday evening after what police are calling an accidental drug overdose. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a Broken Arrow apartment complex in the 1400 block of East Omaha. Broken Arrow Police say the children, ages 2 and 3, apparently got into a medicine chest, opened a medicine bottle and ingested several of the pills.
Police say they do not suspect neglect.
"I mean, the pills were in a hard to reach location. And they were in a child proof bottle. I don't think they could have done anything different," says Broken Arrow Police Cpl. Eric Van Horn.
Broken Arrow Police say the two children were in and out of consciousness before they were taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital. There is no word on the children’s condition.
