PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) _ A boating accident in Kaw Lake east of Ponca City leaves a Kansas man dead and several others injured.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 52-year-old Lonnie Finney Junior of Clearwater, Kansas, was driving a pontoon boat about 4:30 Saturday afternoon when it was hit by a ski boat driven by 25-year-old Joshua Hiten.
Finney -- who was thrown from the boat -- was transported to a Ponca City hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Five passengers on Finney's boat and two passengers on Hiten's boat suffered injuries in the crash.
The OHP report says Hiten smelled of alcohol and wasn't paying attention when he turned suddenly and crashed into Finney's boat.
