OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Municipal League has voted to cancel a contract that the organization's executive director approved without consulting board members. The board voted 8-to-7 Wednesday to end the contract with the Grand River Dam Authority.
Larry Thoma, president of the Municipal League and the mayor of Elgin, says some cities believe the interests of GRDA conflict with their municipal interests. Under the contract, OML was paid $49,500 a year to distribute GRDA promotional materials to its members.
The board left intact a $48,000-a-year lobbying contract with Scott Adkins of Broken Arrow. OML Executive Director Danny George also signed that contract without prior board approval. Adkins is the brother of state Rep. Dennis Adkins.
