If you have company coming, you'd probably do a little cleaning up, at least you'd cut the grass. Tulsa has thousands of visitors coming in just a few weeks for the PGA Championship and acres of grass that needs to be cut. The News On 6â€™s Rick Wells reports a local radio station is gathering a volunteer army to help with the mowing.

Tulsa has lots of company coming. Folks coming for the PGA Championship at Southern Hills will start arriving in about two weeks. There's lots of grass to cut, and KRMGâ€™s Joe Kelley is using his morning radio show to enlist a volunteer army to help.

"Our lawn mowing brigade is not unlike the minutemen of lawn care, ready at a minuteâ€™s notice. Let them know where we're gonna be, what intersection, how long it's gonna take us, get out there and knock it down, whatever's left over,â€ Kelley said.

KRMG did this a couple of years ago when grass got a bit out of control. The volunteer brigade cut some medians on Memorial Drive. The spring rains have left us with lots of high grass and the mowing brigade is again been activated.

â€œWe've got a couple of dozen people ready to get out and start mowing," Kelley said.

For the city's part, now that the rain has stopped, all their contractors are mowing as much as possible. The plan is to get everything cut that needs cut by Friday, August 3rd.
