ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- New Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is bringing Patrick Ewing on board as an assistant coach.

The eleven-time All-Star was a Rockets assistant from 2004-through-2006. He's also served on the Washington Wizards' coaching staff. Ewing will work with low-post players, including All-Star Dwight Howard.

Ewing played most of his 15 NBA seasons in a New York Knicks uniform. He finished his career with Orlando in 2001-2002.

The team says Brendan Malone, Steve Clifford and Bob Beyer also have been hired to assist Van Gundy.
