Conservation partners and the Postal Service unveiled the 2007 Federal Duck Stamp on Friday. Bass Pro shops nationwide hosted the unveiling of the stamp that's more than a work of art; it’s also used to help conserve natural habitats. For every dollar that's used to purchase a duck stamp, 98 cents goes to conservation programs. The program hasn't even sold its first stamp, but it's already making a difference.
"More than $700 million have been raised through the Federal Duck Stamp Program. These dollars have been used to purchase 5.2 million acres of wetlands," said Darrin Unruh with the Deep Fork National Refuge.
The wildlife refugees created with this money are open to the public, so everyone can enjoy them.
