Workers Thanked For Restoring Power

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Utility crews make significant progress in restoring electricity to customers who have none. There are 13,476 homes and businesses still without power as of Thursday morning, some 11 days after a massive ice storm moved through Oklahoma. Meanwhile, residents take time to say 'thank you' to the utility workers.

The sharp decline in outages has come in the number of Oklahoma Gas & Electric customers still offline. The number decreased from about 26,000 to 9,401. Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported a drop from 6,700 outages to 1,000, while about 3,000 customers of rural electric cooperatives and municipal electric systems remained in the cold and dark.

With the final few homes being returned to the electric grid, many of the out-of-state power crews in Tulsa are now headed home.

In Tulsa there are still several hundred workers still in town and Thursday morning, those workers got a special â€œthank youâ€ from some Tulsa area Boy Scouts. The Cub and Boy Scouts presented "thank you"â€™ notes to the workers.
