Drunk drivers were blamed for two unrelated accidents in the early hours of Friday morning. At about 2:30 a.m., a family of four from Illinois was driving eastbound on Interstate 44 near 193rd E. Avenue when their car was rear-ended by another vehicle reportedly driving too fast. All four family members were transported by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.
The male driver of the car that rear-ended the family’s vehicle was booked for possible DUI.
Another possible DUI driver struck a utility pole near 41st and Memorial, causing a power outage on the south side of 41st Street. The man was driving east on 41st Street when his car left the roadway and hit the pole just before 2 a.m. Friday. Police booked the driver on a charge of suspected driving under the influence.
