We hear a lot of talk about earmarks on Capitol Hill these days, money devoted to pet projects that some call pork barrel spending. That kind of spending isn't limited just to Congress. A News On 6 Investigation reveals how the process works in Oklahoma. News On 6 anchor Terry Hood reports Oklahoma lawmakers have been using taxpayer money to fund pet projects for years.
Records obtained by the News On 6 show they've spread pork barrel money all over the state. Most of the projects are worthwhile, but a few are not. Our investigation uncovers why it's been so easy for lawmakers to abuse the system
“Was there an avenue? Sure. My father used to have a saying. He used to say, ‘Son, not all knights are noble. Not all maidens fair.’ And, we’ve got three people who are looking at time in the penitentiary, and if they’re found guilty, then that’s where they need to be,†said Representative Lucky Lammons of Sand Springs.
