HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ A large portion of a pipeline that carries fuel from Houston to Indiana is shut down after a leak was found near Holdenville.
Explorer Pipeline Company shut down about 540 miles of the pipeline between Houston and Glenpool because of leaking diesel fuel. The leak was found after a sudden drop in pipeline pressure was noticed yesterday.
Explorer spokesman Rod Woodford says the cause of the leak and amount of fuel that escaped isn't known. He says the spill is no threat to nearby water sources and no injuries are reported.
Woodford says the closed section is expected to be back in operation by tomorrow.
The pipeline is a significant source of fuel for the Midwestern U-S, including St. Louis and Chicago.
