OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A man considered a 'person of interest' in a string of killings in being tested to see if his DNA links him to at least ten other homicides.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney's office charged Carl Wayne Lawson with rape, kidnapping and assault and battery with intent to kill.
A 51-year-old woman was picked up from an Oklahoma City truck stop on September 12th and was raped, beaten, choked and dumped out of the truck in northern Oklahoma.
Lawson is in jail in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he lives.
A DNA test has been done on him, but the results are not yet in.
The killings involved victims who were found in or disappeared from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Tennessee. Many were truck-stop prostitutes.
