NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The former owner of a Norman auto repair shop pleads no contest today to two counts of unfair or deceptive trade practices.

James Long was sentenced to a two-year deferred sentence and ordered to pay more than $1,000 in restitution. Prosecutors contend Long and his mother -- Donna Long -- operated an automobile repair scam.

James Long is also prohibited from working in the auto repair business during the term of his sentence.

Donna Long's next scheduled court appearance is in November.

The state's complaint included allegations of overcharging, intimidating customers and intentionally causing additional damage to vehicles.

The Longs ran Midwest Auto Repair in Midwest City and Autoworks of Norman.
