A Creek County jail escapee is still being sought. Authorities are actively searching for 30 year-old Raymond Smith, after a motorist reported seeing him cross the Turner Turnpike near Bristow Thursday morning.
Smith ran out of the Creek County Courthouse during a court appearance Wednesday. Creek County Sheriff’s deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol have been searching the area, including homes, thinking Smith may have been searching for something to help him remove his handcuffs and place to stash his orange jail jumpsuit. But the motorist said he appeared to still be in the orange pants, but is not wearing a shirt.
Smith is 6-foot-2, about 190 pounds. He may still be handcuffed. He also has tattoos and a shaved head. The Creek County Sheriff's office says Smith is still a threat and they are urging the public to take appropriate precautions. Extra deputies are on patrol west of Bristow.
If you spot Smith, you are asked to call the Creek County Sheriff's office at 224-4964.
