The Tulsa City Council has approved tougher measures for future sexually oriented businesses.

New laws increase the distance between future sexually oriented businesses and family friendly locations like churches, parks and schools. The distance has doubled to 1,000 feet.

The vote came after much heated criticism over a permit issued for a new strip club at 51st and Harvard. The city has called for a periodic review of the new guidelines. That review will take place every four years.
