(Stillwater-AP) -- An e-mail campaign set up by Oklahoma State's Alumni Association could help the Number 22 Cowboys in their quest to land a Cotton Bowl bid.
The association on Tuesday sent out about 40,000 e-mails encouraging its members to e-mail Cotton Bowl officials in Dallas.
Cotton Bowl officials have been overwhelmed at the response.
The president of the bowl, Rick Baker, says the e-mails could influence the committee when it comes time to select a team.
Bowl bids will be announced on December Seventh.
If Oklahoma beats Kansas State in the Big 12 title game, then the Sooners and Number Six Texas will likely earn Bowl Championship Series bids.
The Cotton Bowl then has the first choice for its Big 12 representative.
The bowl will be played January 2nd, pitting a Big 12 team against a Southeastern Conference school.
