Another major employer in Muskogee is shutting its doors. The News on 6 has learned Schrader Bridgeport will close, leaving more than 200 workers out of a job.

In a letter to Muskogee's mayor, the company announced it would begin phasing out those positions in mid-January. By the end of July, nearly all 207 employees will be terminated. Mayor Herschel McBride: "We definitely didn't want to hear that coming after two more losses, but Muskogee's an aggressive, positive city in bringing manufacturing jobs and we'll keep working on that."

Company officials wouldn't comment. Employees told us they were asked not to speak to the media.

Zapata Industries has already shut down its operations in Muskogee. Waterloo Industries plans to close by December of next year.
