Another Tulsa bank was robbed Monday. This time the hold-up occurred in the middle of the day, in the heart of Brookside.
News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson says it seems like the robbers are getting bolder. They've hit 71 Oklahoma banks so far this year, that's almost double the number of robberies last year. The latest heist happened at this Arvest bank branch at 34th and Peoria. Just before the noon hour, a white man wearing thick glasses and a maroon long sleeve t-shirt held up the bank. He told the teller he had a gun and demanded money.
The suspect walked away with the cash, no one saw him get into a car. Tulsa Police say no one was hurt. The bank's security system did get a clean shot of the suspect. Police say he's between 35 and 45 years old, about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds. Tulsa Police Sgt Rex Mann: "They're doing it more frequently and it’s during the daylight hours when businesses are open. So there's potential for alot of witnesses. So that is bold in that there's a lot of witnesses that could possibly see them."
Police spent the afternoon trying to interview some of those witnesses. And see if the suspect stopped at another business in the area before the robbery.
