(Tulsa-AP) -- American Airlines says the passage of Tulsa County's Vision 2025 economic development package ensures the survival of its Tulsa maintenance facility. The plan employs 83-hundred people, some of then transfers from the former T-W-A overhaul base in Kansas City.

American spokesman Sonja Whitemon says this week's passage of incentives for the airline will help it retain jobs and secure the future of the Tulsa base. Company officials also say the projected layoffs of 330 people in November will be averted.

Vision 2025 included 22-point-three (m) million dollars for capital improvements at American's Tulsa facility -- at a time when American is struggling and considering whether to consolidate its maintenance operations.

The company also has maintenance bases at it's Forth Worth headquarters, and at Kansas City International Airport.
