(Bartlesville-AP) -- Thousands of fans are expected to descend upon Bartlesville to watch the American Legion World Series, which starts Friday.

Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium has received about $750,000 in upgrades in anticipation of the youth baseball event.

There will be 15 games, with the championship game on Tuesday.

All those fans will mean big things for the Bartlesville economy and may help ease any setbacks from Phillips Petroleum Corporation's move to Houston as part of its merger with Conoco.

ConocoPhillips is the series' prime sponsor.

The Hotel Phillips near downtown already has more guests than usual and area restaurants are preparing for bigger crowds.
