An uncertain future for Citgo in Tulsa. There are mixed signals at Tulsa City Hall on whether the company may move its world headquarters and hundreds of jobs out of town.
News on 6 business reporter Steve Berg says city officials tell us it's just a rumor. But it's one they have to take very seriously.
Citgo is one of Tulsa's oldest and largest employers. It’s based here, but its parent company is the national oil company of Venezuela. Just a couple of weeks ago, the new President and CEO of Citgo was quoted as saying that the company was "not" planning any major changes. This would obviously qualify as a major change.
At last report, Citgo employed more than 900 people in Tulsa. The mayor's office says it doesn't know how serious the talk is yet.
The mayor's office is trying to set up a meeting with the new Citgo CEO next week to gather more facts and go from there.
