Excitement is starting to build at Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum. The first artworks began arriving Tuesday for the major Frederic Remington exhibition opening August 10th.
Called "The Color of Night", the exhibition features 25 nocturnal paintings by Remington, 25 bronzes, and other published works. The Denver Art Museum accompanied one of its Remington bronzes, carefully watching over its unpacking.
Joan Thomas, Gilcrease Registrar, "Noting any irregularities that might be there, any kind of changes that may have happened over the years, and what we do is confirm nothing has changed in the packing, in the moving, in the handling."
Gilcrease, which owns one of the largest Remington collections in the world, is the second stop on a national tour organized by the National Gallery of Art.
