Broken Arrow track star chosen by Gatorade

(Chicago-AP) -- A Broken Arrow track star is the Oklahoma High School Girls Track and Field Player of the Year.

Jessica Eldridge is the winner of the award and is now a finalist for the Gatorade National High School Girls Track and Field Player of the Year.

Eldridge holds the state record in both the 800 and 1,600 meters and anchored the state champion 1,600 meter relay team.

The winners are chosen for their on-field performances, academic performances and community service.
