(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Libertarian Party will begin collecting signatures on Thursday in an effort to become officially recognized as a political party in Oklahoma.
Central Oklahoma Libertarian Party chairman Clark Duffe says the recognition allows the party to have candidates on election ballots.
Duffe says the party must collect signatures of registered voters equal to 5% of the total votes in the most recent election for governor or president.
He says that means the party needs 51,781 valid signatures.
