(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Henry has signed a bill into law that targets unsolicited e-mails, commonly known as ``spam.''
The measure makes it illegal to put false or misleading information in the subject line of an e-mail.
It also makes it illegal to use a third party's Internet address or domain name without their consent for the purpose of making an e-mail appear as though it came from someone else.
The law would require the sender to include a return e-mail address or a toll-free telephone number so recipients may request that they not receive any more communication from the sender.
The measure also requires e-mail containing sexually explicit material to include the letters ADV-Adult in the first ten characters of the subject line.
Violators could be subject to a misdemeanor offense, plus court costs and damages.
