(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Red Cross in Oklahoma is looking for volunteers as it stays busy helping the military.
The military uses the Red Cross to validate emergency messages from family members before they're passed on to soldiers in the field.
The Red Cross workload is increasing as thousands of soldiers from Oklahoma deploy overseas in advance of a possible war with Iraq.
Last year, the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma passed more than eleven-thousand messages to loved ones serving in the United States and overseas.
That number has grown recently as more guardsmen and reservists have been mobilized.
Lauri Hanna with the Central Oklahoma Red Cross says the office is looking for folks who can help deal with the increased number of military cases they anticipate if war breaks out.
