Some Tulsa teachers are a little closer to getting approval to attend a rally at the state capitol they hope will force the legislature to increase funding for education in Oklahoma.
Superintendent Dr David Sawyer made attendance for Tulsa teachers easier Friday by agreeing to recommend to the Board that Tulsa Public Schools be closed on February 12th. The rally will be held at the state capitol, and teachers, parents, students and education supporters are being encouraged to attend.
John Hamill with Tulsa Public Schools, "Whether to have a big show of support by education and the education community or a big show by the non educator community. I think the decision has been made to have it both ways."
Planning has begun for transportation to get everyone to Oklahoma City, and the rally day plan must still be approved by the Tulsa School Board.
