The city of McAlester will install a new generator at the city's water treatment plant on Wednesday.
That means power will be shut off to the water plant for six hours Wednesday morning. Officials say they have prepared for the shut off and say no city water service should be interrupted. Although, residents may experience low water pressure during that time.
The new generator is being installed in the wake of the December 2000 ice storms. The loss of electricity at the plant combined with malfunctioning generators left the city without water during the storms.
