WASHINGTON (AP) _ A California company is recalling 14,000 bottles of dietary supplements that lack child-resistant packaging, posing a serious hazard to any young children who swallow the iron contained in the tablets.

Carson-based Leiner Health Products has not received any reports of injuries, but is voluntarily recalling the ``Nature's Valley Women's Formula Multivitamin'' supplements as a preventative measure, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.

The 60-tablet bottles being recalled were sold in brown plastic bottles with a light yellow label and green cap, with the UPC code 4116227006 on the back. Only those with the lot numbers IFA2750 and IFA2751 written vertically down the back are included.

The bottles were sold between July 2001 and last month nationwide for about $8.

Consumers should return the bottles to the store for a refund, the CPSC said. They also can contact Leiner Health Products at (800) 421-1168.
