We first told you about Grede Foundries last week, when steel workers facing layoffs pooled their resources for those less fortunate.
They were planning an annual toy drive, even though they'd received notices they would be losing their jobs in 60 days. Or so they thought. Friday night they were terminated, escorted from their jobs and told not to come back. That's according to the steel workers' union. Lonnie Salyers, Union worker: "Makes our people feel upset, our deal was to provide this company with labor, and our people planned on being there and fulfill our end of the deal being there till the 14th. Feels like there trying to take another jab for us."
Steel workers still held their chili dinner-toy drive Saturday night. They’ll be paid through the 14th. We were not able to reach anyone at Grede's corporate offices for comment.
