MANCHESTER, England (AP) _ A pregnant Sonia O'Sullivan, last year's 5,000 meters Olympic silver medalist, won the five mile (8 kilometers) women's Great North Run in Manchester Sunday.

O'Sullivan won in 28 minutes 8 seconds ahead of British runner Lucy Elliott and Danish marathon runner Gitte Karlshoj from a field of 2,000.

O'Sullivan is expecting her second child in December. She will miss August's world athletics championships, but is unsure how long she will continue running during her pregnancy.

``There's no laid down time,'' the 31-year-old Irishwoman said. ``I'll train and run for as long as I can. There will become a point when I will have to stop, but I think I will slow down gradually. Really, I just want to stay fit.''
