NEW YORK (AP) _ Samantha's days of vamping around may be over on ``Sex and the City.''
``Samantha will be in two relationships this year,'' executive producer Michael Patrick King tells Newsweek magazine about Kim Cattrall's character.
``The first one shorter, and the second one will be a roller coaster. We decided it was time for Samantha to fall in love because we don't know how well she does it. So we are planning a man for her that lasts as long as it lasts.''
That's not the only change on the show, which started its fourth season on a somber note last week with an episode in which Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) laments her lack of a love interest as she turns 35.
``It was a gamble on our part, but we thought people would be bored if the show didn't move in some direction,'' King says. ``Every week you're not going to see the girls sitting around saying, `we're depressed,' but we wanted to show that the girls are together in the good and the bad times.''
HBO's ``Sex and the City'' airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT
