STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State coach Les Miles has agreed to a contract extension, ending rumors that he was in the running for the Alabama job.
The university would not provide details of the agreement, but spokesman Steve Buzzard said it was a long-term contract that Miles ``is comfortable with, and that is competitive within the Big 12 Conference.''
Miles signed a five-year deal worth $400,000 annually when he was hired two years ago.
Alabama has not hired a successor to Dennis Franchione, who left Alabama to become Texas A&M's coach on Dec. 5. When Miles didn't immediately agree to Oklahoma State's offer of an extension, speculation grew that he might be a candidate for the Crimson Tide.
Miles insisted that he never was contacted by Alabama, and Oklahoma State athletic director Harry Birdwell has said Alabama didn't ask for permission to talk with Miles.
Miles led the Cowboys to a 7-5 record this season and a berth in the Houston Bowl on Dec. 27 against Southern Miss. It's Oklahoma State's first bowl game since 1997.
