(Ponca City-AP) -- A bronze ornament of Oklahoma's state bird, sculpted Ponca City artist Jo Saylors, will decorate the White House Christmas tree.

Saylors says she created the ornament of the scissor-tailed flycatcher after getting a letter from first lady Laura Bush's office. She says the ornament could be a flying or sitting bird native to Oklahoma, so she chose the state bird.

Saylors is to attend a reception Wednesday when ornaments from the states are placed on the tree.

The ornament will become a part of the White House collection.
