(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An Oklahoma City police officer shot and killed a man who pointed a handgun at the officer Wednesday morning.
Police say Stephen Allen was shot by Sergeant Todd Deaton at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex shortly after 4:30.
Captain Jessica Cummins says it was the second time in 20 minutes that three officers were called to the apartment.
Cummins says the first call was about 4:00 and officers found Allen upset and with jousting swords, but thought they calmed him.
The three returned after a 911 hang-up call was made about 4:30.
Cummins says Allen came to the doorway with a handgun and pointed it at the officers and Deaton fired several shots, killing Allen. The other two officers, a rookie and a training officer, did not open fire.
Deaton is an 8-year-veteran of the police department and will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
