The budget crisis had teachers and parents out rallying in Sand Springs. They want a special legislative session to deal with the severe budget cuts.
Schools statewide have lost $158-million so far. If things don't improve, Sand Springs may have to close two schools, Twin Cities Elementary and Lake Alternative School. Lloyd Snow, Sand Springs Superintendent "Our leaders have to be courageous. This is not a crunch, it's a crisis. Education needs to be at the forefront as far as funding solutions. I think there are solutions."
Governor Keating is expected call a special session of the Legislature. But the one-day session will deal only with the budget crisis in the state's corrections system. The governor says they won't talk about other state agencies.
