It was a day of Olympic events right here in Tulsa. Thursday was the third annual Recycle Olympics.
More than 250 young people signed up to participate in the activities at McClure Park near 7th and Memorial. The fun is put together to give kids something to do on their day off from school.
Recycle Olympics chairman, Gary Percefull, “a couple of years ago the kids at East Central, we talked to them about hey would you like to do an event on the fall break when schools out on a Thursday and Friday, and they came up with the idea to do something that would promote recycling. “
Kids from 6th through 12th grade could compete individually or as teams for prizes. There was an obstacle course relay, recycled art competition, speed sorting of recyclables and lots of other fun events.
