(Oklahoma City-AP) -- About 160 Consolidated Freightways employees in Oklahoma lost their jobs Monday when the company locked its doors.
C-F had about 130 drivers and clerks in Oklahoma City and Lawton and another 27 employees in Tulsa.
Vancouver, Washington-based Consolidated Freightways laid off 15,500 workers nationwide Monday and planned to file for bankruptcy Tuesday.
Driver Roger Bass in Tulsa says his terminal manager called him Monday to ask if he was having a good Labor Day, then told him he no longer has a job.
C-F employees in Oklahoma City found a note posted on the door telling them to call a toll-free number. They heard a recorded message from Chief Executive John Brincko telling them their employment had ended.
