The city of McAlester is getting some bad news. It will have to pay $10,000 in fines for water quality violations.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality says the city's water supply has too many solid particles that could interfere with disinfectants like chlorine.

McAlester has until September 1st to pay the fines.
