DALLAS (AP) _ Longtime Southern Methodist assistant basketball coach Jimmy Tubbs has taken an assistant's job at Oklahoma.

Tubbs, who has been at SMU for the last 12 years, will be on the staff of OU coach Kelvin Sampson, said Chris Walker, SMU sports information director.

Before coaching with the Mustangs, Tubbs coached at Dallas Kimball, which won a state championship in 1990.

The Oklahoma position opened when Ray Lopes was named head coach at Fresno State.
